Model Flying Club The field is rented from a local farmer a Mr Colin Hender with whom we have an excellent relationship and who visits the field from time to time to chat with club members. We have an excellent grass take off and landing strip approximately 100m by 80m. This landing strip is surrounded by a grassed area in which we have 4 pit areas and ample room for parking. We are permitted to fly from 10 o clock in the morning till dusk 365 days a year. Plymouth Model Flying
Clubs Flying Site The field itself is surrounded by arable farmland and when plane makes the inevitable forced landing outside our landing strip we will always try to keep to tractor tracks to avoid damaging crops. Usually only 2 members are permitted to recover a downed model. We try to run a number of events each year to stimulate interest in the club and to recruit new members. The strip is maintained to a very high standard by club members and we are always looking at ways to improve and protect our site. We have basic toilet facilities for both male and female. The atmosphere is very friendly and all visitors to the flying site will be given a warm welcome. All we ask of any visitors is that they park their cars next to the members and any young children must be under parental control and that any dogs must be on a lead. The club has a safety policy and club rules and all members are requested to comply with them.
The club is affiliated to the British Model Flying Association whose safety guidelines are mandatory. We are accredited by the South Hams Sports Council and also a member of the Plymouth Advisory Sports Council. Contact Details Or you can contact us by telephone on the following numbers:

Flying/Training We have several instructors and experienced pilots who are able to teach newcomers to the hobby and also give sound advice on all elements from purchasing suitable models to construction. We run a buddy lead system for all novices. All novices’ models will be checked over by an instructor to ensure that the model has been constructed/assembled correctly and that it does not exceed the noise requirements of the club. The flying tuition will culminate with the novice taking their BMFA A Certificate which will allow the novice to fly without supervision. Tuition can take place at anytime but with the prior arrangement with an instructor, this will avoid disappointment so that when you turn up at the field you know you will have someone to instruct you.
