Plymouth Model Flying Club
Ver 1 CAP 658 Changes 8/1/07

All members are advised of the changes to Cap 658 which is contained in the 2007 edition of the BMFA Handbook. This relates to PCM receivers and Digital Signal Processing Receivers which are capable of have a failsafe mode. The new regulation states “You must have the failsafe set at a minimum to reduce the engine speed to idle on the loss or interruption of the signal”.

Full details are on page 21 of the 2007 BMFA Handbook. But the implications of this new regulation and editorials in the modelling magazines suggests that if there is an incident involving an insurance claim on the BMFA insurance it may be invalidated if it was subsequently proved the failsafe had not been set in accordance with Cap 658.
